David L. Paterson is a Professor of Medicine at The University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research (UQCCR). He is also a Consultant Infectious Diseases Physician at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital, Brisbane.

Professor Paterson’s clinical work, research and teaching has been honoured and recognised internationally. He received both his medical degree and PhD from The University of Queensland. In 2007, Professor Paterson returned to Brisbane after spending ten years at The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, one of the leading academic medical institutions in The United States. His work at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center included appointments as Chief of Transplant Infectious Diseases and Director of the Antibiotic Management Program.

Professor Paterson is the author of more than 400 peer-reviewed publications. He has authored more than 30 book chapters and is a member of the editorial board of two leading Infectious Diseases journals.
