What an expert medical witness provides?

Assessment and report preparation
Where not already completed, the nominated specialist undertakes the assessment and prepares a medicolegal report addressing the issues relevant to the proceedings. The report is prepared with the understanding that it may be relied upon in court.
STEP 3
Expert witness evidence
If the matter proceeds to a hearing, the specialist is available to provide expert evidence based on their report. Evidence may be given via telephone or video link, in accordance with court or tribunal requirements.
