Dr Michael Redmond has extensive experience in neurosurgery, having practiced as a neurosurgeon for more than forty years. His training included secondments in the USA and Canada. Dr Redmond has achieved national recognition for “significant contribution to medicine, to neurosurgery, and to medical organisations” in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
Dr Redmond has been involved in civilian outreach work, including visiting the Philippines for a craniofacial mission with Operation Smile, and travelling to Port Moresby in the Pacific Islands as part of a Neurosurgical outreach programme with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Dr Redmond spent time as a Wing Commander in the Royal Australian Air Force Specialist Reserve. He supported Australian Defence Force personnel in international peacekeeping operations and on active service as a surgeon.
